, Fall, Seasonal Decor
Hey friends! I did a little-painted pumpkin project last week that turned out so well I just had to share! Using chalk paint completely transformed my cheap dollar store faux pumpkins into pretty pumpkins that can be displayed all fall!
If you walkinto any dollar store, big box, or a craft store you're bound to see some faux pumpkins.Today I'm showing you how you can jazz up these inexpensive pumpkins with a little bit of paint and Rub 'n Buff!

Supplies:
- Small fake pumpkins
- Chalk paint in your preferredcolor {I got mine at Walmart}
- Small paint brush
- Rub 'n Buff
I gave my pumpkins two coats of chalk paint. Letting the first coat dry completely before applying the second coat.
I love natural-hued pumpkins so I decided to go with white, asoft blue, and green color. However, you can choose any color your little heart desires.
The reason I love chalk paint for this project is the chalk paint give the pumpkins some texture which makes it look more realistic.
Next, I gave the stems a little bling by using my fingers {you can also use a Q-tip if you like} to apply some Rub 'n Buff.
Keep in mind a little goes a long way when it comes to Rub 'n Buff, so all you need is a tiny dab for each pumpkin stem.
The gold stems give these painted pumpkinsanextra special touch. Plus cover up any paint you have gotten on the stems.
I just love how they turned out and that I can use them up through Thanksgiving!
What DIY projects do you plan to work on this fall?
Thank you for visiting! See you next time!

I have never seen any type of pumpkin at the Dollatpr Tree/Store other than the styrofoam. I tried painting a couple last year, and they looked like painted styrofoam. I've painted for years, so am not new to it, but I'd certainly love to know how so many people get these pumpkins to look decent.

Linda,
I love your aqua decor for fall. I just started using teal/aqua in my living room and this will be ideal. I have tons of the DT fall items. Love the way you have your mini pumpkins perched on candlesticks. Thanks for the inspiration!Reply

Barb, I don't think I ever met a shade of blue I didn't love! That's what's great about these pumpkins is you can make them any color you want to match your decor!

Love the way these turned out. I haven't done anything with chalk paint. It's nice to know you can get it in a smal crafting size. The gold added just the right touch! Rub 'n Buff is a great product. I've used it to touch things up through the years and add accents. Cute project!

Carol, I love Rub 'n Buff! I've made over quite a few pieces with it. The mirror that's in my entryway is the best example.

Love this idea and I know I can do it. I was considering how to make my coastal decor in my lower level look fall when everything is aqua and soft. This would be a great solution! Really great idea and instruction.
