WILMINGTON, N.C. Duke women's golf sophom*ore Andie Smith carded a team-best 1-under-par, 71, on Friday in the second round of the ACC Championship, while the Blue Devils moved up one spot in the team standings with 18 holes of stroke play remaining at the 6,142-yard, par-72 Porters Neck Country Club in Wilmington, N.C.

The Blue Devils are 10 strokes out of fourth place heading into Saturday's round with the top four teams after 54 holes advancing to match play. Clemson (560) continues to lead play with Wake Forest (563), Virginia (571), North Carolina (575), NC State (579), Florida State (580), Virginia Tech (581) and Duke (585) rounding out the top eight teams.

How It Happened

  • The Blue Devils featured three golfers shooting even par or better in Friday's second round as Andie Smith posted a 1-under, 71, while Emma McMyler and Phoebe Brinker each signed for an even-par, 72.
  • Duke opened action on hole No. 10 in the morning.
  • Smith started her day with an up-and-down par on No. 10 and then suffered a bogey on No. 14.She struck fire with back-to-back birdies on No. 15 and No. 16.On the par-5 No. 15, Smith reached the green in two and 2-putted for birdie, before draining a 15-footer for birdie on No. 16.The Hobie Sound, Fla., product made the turn with a 1-under, 35, but bogeyed No. 1.Smith played her final eight holes at 1-under with seven pars and a downhill, 15-foot birdie on the 333-yard, par-4 third hole.She also got up-and-down for par on No. 8 to continue her steady play.For the day, she hit 14 greens and rolled 30 putts, while carding a 71.
  • Coming off a 1-under, 71, on Thursday, McMyler posted two birdies, two bogeys and 14 pars as she shot even-par, 72, in round two.She opened her day by rolling in an 11-foot birdie on No. 10, bogeyed No. 12 and then collected a 9-footer for birdie on No. 14 to get to 1-under.McMyler, who is from San Antonio, Texas, parred the next 11 holes, before bogeying the eighth hole.She hit 14 greens, eight fairways and had 32 putts on the day.
  • Brinker had a similar card to McMyler with two birdies, two bogeys and 14 pars, while finishing with an even-par, 72.She also birdied her opening hole as she registered a 15-foot putt and then went to 2-under as she hit her 50-degree wedge from 100 yards to 10 feet for birdie on the 13th hole.Brinker, a native of Wilmington, Del., bogeyed No. 15 and made the turn with a 1-under, 35.After parring 11 consecutive holes, she hit in a fairway bunker on No. 9 and bogeyed her final hole.Brinker hit a team-best 16 greens and had 35 putts on the day.
  • Senior Anne Chen featured a solid start to her round with three pars, before draining a 9-foot birdie on the 312-yard, par-4 13th.She got in trouble on No. 14 as her approach went long and suffered a double-bogey.Chen, a product of Sugar Land, Texas, was able to hit her 9-iron from 133 yards on No. 16 for birdie and 2-putted for birdie on No. 18 to make the turn with a 1-over, 37.She played her final nine holes at 3-over to finish with a 76.She hit 15 greens and eight fairways on the day.
  • Rookie Katie Li continued to struggle in her first ACC Championship as she collected a 78 on Friday.She was limited to one birdie on No. 18 as she reached the green in two and 2-putted.She hit 11 greens and seven fairways, while totaling 36 putts.

  • Isabella Rawl of Clemson continues to lead the field with a 6-under, 138.
  • Duke graduate student Emma McMyler enters the final round of stroke play in a tie for 12th with a 1-under, 143.Both Andie Smith and Phoebe Brinker are tied for 21st with a 1-over, 145.
  • The Blue Devils played the par-5 holes at 4-over-par, after shooting 6-under the day before.
  • Duke had 11 birdies on the day and now owns 21 for the 36 holes, which ranks ninth among the field.
  • The 123 pars for the Blue Devils ranks second.
  • McMyler's 29 pars ranks tied for first, individually.
