I need help with my Redelivery (2024)

If you've missed a delivery and want to arrange to have your item re-sent to you, you can arrange a Redelivery.

I missed my delivery, can I book a Redelivery?

Yes - the fastest way to do this is online. We will automatically try to deliver the next working day if you are not at home first time round. You will receive a red ‘Something for You’ card after the first delivery attempt advising that the postie will return the next day and offering alternative options if required.

Please note: We need two working days to arrange the Redelivery. We won’t be able to redeliver to a business address on days when that business is shut. Some businesses also ask us not to deliver to them on certain days, particularly at weekends.

You can’t arrange a Redelivery for:

  • The same day as the original attempted delivery
  • The working day after the original attempted delivery

Can I get my item sooner?

If you are unable to arrange a redelivery, you can collect your item from your local Customer Service Point after the second delivery attempt. Please bring ID and this card for collection. For ID requirements and office details visit royalmail.com/missed-delivery or use the Royal Mail App.

If you do choose to collect your item, remember to take the card we left and proof of ID.More help with collecting your item and what ID you need to take.

If you choose to have your item redelivered, we need two working days to arrange it. This allows for your item to get back to the Delivery Office and be sent out again

What time will my item be redelivered?

The times we deliver vary around the country – from early morning until late in the evening. We normally include items for Redelivery on parcel routes. These should be around the same time as the one written on the Something for you card. However, we can’t guarantee this.

If you’re expecting a Redelivery and haven’t got it yet, please wait until the next day before contacting us. We may still be out delivering.*

How do I arrange a Redelivery if I’ve lost my Something for you card?

You can still book a Redelivery online. You’ll need the following information:

  • Date the card was delivered
  • Name on the item (or your name if there was no name on the card)
  • Address on the item
  • Number of items

If you don’t know this information, please contact us using the link at the bottom of this page.

The following information will also help us arrange your Redelivery, but you can still book without it:

  • The type of item you’re expecting (eg a letter, parcel, Royal Mail Tracked ® item etc)
  • The item reference number

Please note: you won’t be able to collect an item in person without a Something for you card.

Can I rearrange a Redelivery if I don’t have an item reference number?

Yes, if we left a card without an Item reference number, or you’ve lost the card, you can still book a Redelivery. You’ll need to leave the ‘Item number’ field blank.

My item reference number isn’t recognised. Can I still book a Redelivery?

Yes, as long as you know the other information required, just leave the ‘Item number’ field blank.

I have more than one item reference number. Do I enter them all?

Please enter just one item reference number on the form. Don’t forget to select the correct number of items for Redelivery. If the full number isn’t included on the form, some of your items might not be redelivered.

Can I cancel or change my Redelivery?

We’re sorry, but once a Redelivery is booked it can’t be cancelled or changed. That means your Redelivery will go ahead as ordered. We’ll leave another Something for you card if there’s nobody to accept the item. You can either:

  • Book another Redelivery online for a date after the original attempt. Please remember we need two working days between attempted deliveries.
  • Pick your item up from your local Customer Service Point up to two days before the day of the booked Redelivery.

Why can't I arrange a Redelivery?

There are a number of reasons this might happen:

  • The item has been returned to sender. We’ll hold on to your item for 18 days. The Redelivery date selected must be within that period.
  • You’re trying to arrange a Redelivery to another postcode area. This is the area that your local Delivery Office delivers to. We cannot redeliver to any address outside this area. So, for example, if you live in SE25, the same postcode area would be any other postcode starting with SE25.
  • You’re trying to arrange a Redelivery to another country. We can’t redeliver to any address outside the UK.
  • Your chosen Redelivery date is not appearing. We need two working days to arrange a Redelivery, only available dates will appear. Please remember we also don’t deliver on Bank Holidays.
  • Your item was sent by Special Delivery Guaranteed® or is an international item which requires a signature. For security reasons these items can’t be redelivered to another address.

Can I have my item redelivered to a Post Office® to be collected?

Yes, you can arrange Redelivery to a local Post Office® branch.

Please note: The times we deliver to the Post Office® varies from branch to branch. So it’s best to collect your item later in the day. You can check your local Post Office® branch’s opening hours on Services Near You.
